KAUT-TV Job Title: Master Control Operator
Reports to: Chief Engineer
Purpose/reason for this Position:
The primary focus of the Operator is to operate Master Control Switcher, Program Automation System, Record Satellite Feeds and run the video tape recorders.
Core Job Functions:
- Operates the master control switcher.
- Controls and monitors the transmitter remote controls.
- Tunes satellite receivers to downlink syndicated programming.
- Edits audio and video recordings.
- Airs emergency broadcast announcements (EBS) and weather announcements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Must be physically able to reach and manipulate all operating controls on the technical equipment. Ability to make decisions and react quickly in order to respond to last minute program changes and equipment
malfunctions. Must have a good sense of timing in order to back time programs and pre-roll equipment. Experience in operating master control switcher and videotape machines.
Must possess a valid State Driver's
License (or be able to get one).
Education Requirements:
A minimum of two years WORK experience.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to get videotapes from the storage shelves and load them on the videotape machines. Good manual dexterity in order to operate the numerous small push-buttons and rotary switches on the equipment. Ability to climb ladders for set repair and lamp replacement. Ability to lift and move lamp fixtures, sets, and props. Good eyesight and hearing for the monitoring and reporting of commercial and program quality. Good hearing to receive director commands. Some driving required.
